Have I been here too long?

There are student teachers here this week, and a couple look really, really familiar. And they seemed to know me. And then one of them grinned, and I realized that it`s one of my goofy girls from class 3-3 when I first got here. (It`s actually the one who wrote " rain is bad. or death " on her introduction paper.)

I always thought that would be the coolest thing about teaching... being able to watch kids grow up from a non-parental perspective. They come back to visit later and you think, "wow, these kids somehow became responsible-ish adults while i wasn't looking, and they seem to remember me fondly! I've contributed to the future!"

Well, maybe not quite that melodramatic. Don't feel old, though. Imagine what it'd be like to be teaching the kids of your former students. That would be creepy.

The kids that I first taught at Nova, in its kids program, would be in Jr. High now. And that's for the youngest ones. The older ones are starting college soon, I think.
