I've been thinking for a while now to do a little post about Operas. I believed I talked about it to very very few people in my flist but I do love opera. I don't remember who said it exactly but Operas and Litterature have this in common that it's full of people who just die for love and Tragedy. I guess that's why I love it (not to mention the

I still need to listen to Lucrzia Borgia tbh. I never tried it completely but I'm sure that if anyone can nail it it's Monsterrat Caballe XD. Nebrenko is playing it nowadays and I do like her a lot despite the professionnals being all the time mean to her :/. And she's so pretty XD.

Par contre... il me semblait que les pièces d'Offenbach ne comptaient pas comme opéras mais comme opérettes?

You might even convert me into an opera lover. I have a long story about this, though. I think everything (or almost everything) is formed by first impressions, and I "met" Opera for the first time when I was 14. I used to live in a very good elite boarding school , and they were really conscious to make us into well-rounded individuals. hence, one day, 14-year old us were taken to see Opera. For some reason, the singers weren't as beautiful as the ones in your clip, but mostly consisted of 40-something ladies with "big chests". Plus we could not understand a word (I must say that the lack of understandable words is still a big minus of opera IMHO) and .. well,, we didn't take to it, none of us. :( Sad story but true.
The next month we were taken to see ballet and for some reason this clicked with me.
But THESE CLIPS ARE GORGEOUS AND MAY BE I SHOULD CHANGE MY WAYS.

Try to forget that first disaster :). I would totally recommend Carmen and la Traviata because you can find them subbed on youtube héhé. Hamlet too I've seen it there. Don Giovanni is pretty easy to catch too since there was the movie made out of it :).
