wireless ones sound a bit rubbish. closed back ones are good if you need sound isolation - otherwise get open backed ones. my closed back sennheiser DT250s are ace, and were about £80. i think places like richer sounds might be able to advise/let you have a listen, pro hi fi shops normally deffo have a range, get some advice and then buy online :)

Oooo ta Bob. So you wouldn't recommend wireless? I have to say i had heard they were meant to be poorer sound quality.

yeah deffo. i mean on cheaper ones it won't make much odds, but if you're gonna spend some money it'll significantly degrade things. They send everything over a short range radio frequency, so it'll sound like it's on the radio - albeit good, fm radio but significantly lower quality than CD/vinyls are naturally.

Sennheisers are good!

I use them when playing Doom 3. They make it much scarier.

sennheiser HD497s are the shit. i'm on my second pair (not that the first pair died... my ex-housemate 'lost' them!)

nearest ones i can find anywhere quickly (a lot of sites are blocked at work) are these:

50 quid, but you can probably find cheaper.

i picked up my original 497's from currys january sale for £25 and my second set off ebay for £23. richer had them in for £39.96 at the time.

I agree with everyone else, Sennheisers for the win. I've got some little 282s for DJing with and they do the job nicely :)
