A Healthy Dose of Deathly Hallows and Balderdash

Jul 25, 2007 23:10

So I wasn't even counting on having read this by now, but by Saturday night my sheep sensibilities kicked in and I read the chapter summaries of HPB on Sparknotes in order to avoid actually reading that one again. (I had forgotten what a horcrux was, SO FUCKING WHAT). I went into it with a sparkling, spoiler-free mind (amazing what not using the ( Read more... )

But wasn't little Albus keyuute? But if Harry was going to dedicate names to the deceased, bless them, he should have a kid named Fred Moody! And Tonks Creevy. Poor Colin. Waay too many people died! It was already too many at one...

I don't like the flow of the name Albus Severus, but the sucker in me sure as hell appreciates the sentiment. :D At one point I was thinking how hard it must be to be a parent in those times, because with so many people dying on you you hardly know after whom to name the kid!

Or Ginny could just have a kid per name. Let's see... That would be...with Tonks, Lupin, Fred, Moody, Dumbledore, Snape, Sirius, Bathilda Bagshot, James, Lily, Colin, Cedric... I can see why she stuck to double names. Its so sad that so many have died. I wish that when voldie was remade something went wrong and a bone of ape was put in instead. And then he'd emerge with a monkey's butt for a face. Or have one attatched to his back or a mini one under his nose that would continue to pass extremely disgusting gas or different varieties every 30 seconds. Try being ruler then! As if anyone would take him seriously. But I do feel bad for child!voldie. Poor guy did not get much love:

Dobby too! Pity the child who gets slapped with that name, but Dobby definitely deserves it as much as any of the rest.

I know! You know, I wasn't expecting Lazarus coming back from the dead. I didn't WANT Lazarus! The last few chapters of OotP, especially after Harry's conversation with Luna, seemed so...I don't know..."Pay attention, kiddies, because this will come up again. I am slowly and carefully winking at you."

Not quite.

yeah. sirius wasn't even used as a name for one of the kids. JKR's a bitch. :/

I like to think he's too irreplaceable.

I LOVED it, too! I think it's my second favorite after POA, though I need to re-read it.

One of my favorite moments, however, was Lily's letter to Sirius, I like thinking of them as close, and you know what else I like is the fact that in his teenage rebellion Sirius opted for Muggle girlie pictures.)

I loved Lily's letter to Sirius, and I thought of you! (After all, I got that gorgeous fic about Lily and Sirius teaming up to foil Remus.) I love that they were friends in their own right. *hugs them tight*

OKAY SORRY, I'm sure there has been plenty of quality fic about this as well

I'm not so sure.

The Resurrection Stone scene will kill me dead forever. And now we all know who Remus was hanging around with in the afterlife, looking all young and happy. *ahem*

Clearly, I am still not sold on Remus/Tonks, though I agree it's mostly about Remus' boatload of issues that would follow him ANYWHERE.

:D I felt kind of validated by that letter, which is maybe silly because there are probably ten million uncanonly things I have perpetuated in my day. However that was idea one I liked.

Exactement. And as glitterdemon says, you know it is not only the fact he is back on his old stomping grounds that is accounting for his happiness.

I've been thinking a lot about Remus's inevitable personal issues coming up in any relationship and how I love Sirius and Remus so much because in part because I think all the problems they'd have are magically delicious.

no lie: my favorite part was that jkr didn't fuck up regulus for me.

my biggest problem with hp is there are so many stories i would rather hear than, you know, harry potter's. like maybe remus's, for instance.

Wizard metaphysics is fucking crazy!
you are awesome like cupcakes and pixie stix, sarwaaaaah. and i agree with pretty much all of your assessments. esp. re: sentimentality etc. it is the end of an era! also everyone is being heroic and dropping dead so that helps.

Understandable about Regulus! I was very happy about that myself. JKR's depiction of him accorded so well with a lot of the fandom images that have been whittled out over the past couple years...

Same here, but at least we have fandom. I don't want to be one of those people who dismisses canon entirely for being inferior because hey, that's annoying, but often I'm glad we don't have more about the Marauders and some of the other minor characters because meantime I have adopted my own canon version of events for them, largely pieced together from fanfic I've read about them since I was 14 or whenever. Good times.

Your fucking icon. Wow!

I was trying to figure it out when I was looking at your profile the other day and then I decided it must be you.

What an amazing website. I love cupcakes with the passion of a thousand suns. Instead of making regular cakes I turn everything into cupcakes. Cheesecake cupcakes, carrot cake cupcakes, spice cake cupcakes, green red velvet Irish cupcakes. Good times.

I felt like every romantically-inclined line had been written off in a dash to replace what might have previously said "[Insert romance here],"

...that's the best description I have ever seen of what was wrong with the Harry/Ginny, hahaha.

HI. LTNS SARAH.

(huh, I seem to have no HP icons anymore. Wotever. Eat the Instant Star.)

HIARIEL. What is LTNS?

Is Instant Star still on?
Does Jude even still have red hair?!

LONG TIME NO SEE.

Instant Star is totally still on, but Jude's a blond now. Woe. It was nice for a season and now it makes her look really tired.

It's been a while since I felt as lame as I do right now.

Okay, so I am slow on the uptake! But I am very glad to see you alive and kicking, me heartie.

It's okay, today when I was in the car on the way home I was reading all the soap operas paragraph-long updates, none of which I am familiar with, mind, and I saved the one soap I DO watch (Passions, obviously) for last. Then when I read it became clear to me that even in the world of soap opera paragraph-long synopses, Passion is a clear loser.
