The next day Hyunseung was back to his routine of random jeans and a plain oversized shirt. The attention had been quite flattering but it was still certain he will never like girls trying to come up to him on every step he took and strike up a chat. He was tired and couldn’t even take naps in peace under all those eyes.

And no one messed with his sacred naps which were like a source of life even though it may sound over-exaggerated. It’s a fact nevertheless.

Hyunseung could already imagine Junhyung’s face when his stubborn plan would go into action. Making up scenarios in his head was a good past-time activity, something he enjoyed as he always won. Plus, it relieved stress. He knew he was thinking about this too much and it was especially amusing as it hadn’t been a contest or a bet in the first place. Who knows, the younger may not even remember it but that didn’t matter - Hyunseung did.

He left the house with a satisfied smile, another apple between his teeth as he proceeded, going along the same path he had walked on for so many years. It was still nice, especially in the mornings as the streets were quite empty - that’s the reason he parts 40 minutes before the classes. He could feel at peace and wouldn’t have to think about suddenly seeing familiar faces which would only make it awkward as both wouldn’t know if they should greet each other or not.

You know...that awkward moment when you’re just about to walk past each other, knowing the other feels the same nervousness but no one says anything. What’s even worse is when the other takes out a phone and even though it’s the most obvious excuse ever, people still continue doing it.

The sun was also rising, casting a soft slightly pink-orange light on every item it could reach to. The grass also smelt fresh - another reason Hyunseung liked morning’s so much. When he was younger he used to take small walks at the dawn to clear his head before another day of lessons and such. It always brought back good memories which were faded when he reached the age where the lessons ended and he just didn’t feel like doing anything.

A time when he was pulled into the darkness.

„Oh! Look who we have there!“ A voice sounded behind him, making Hyunseung cringe. He wasn’t surprised at all and in some depth of his mind he should’ve expected this. Even though the younger always went to school at the last minute, this appearance would have been foreseeable. Hyunseung only cursed in his head as he hadn’t taken this into consideration - he could’ve taken a different route. It wasn’t a good idea to see him this early, not at all, as it was the first step of ruining his plans.

„Yes, it’s me, what are you doing here so early?“ Hyunseung couldn’t help but ask the last part with slight annoyance even though his thoughts weren’t affected at all. It was just a reflex the younger brought out at times.

“I just had to check on you. I can’t lose, now can I?” Junhyung smirked but it soon fall as he finally noticed the clothes the other had on. “What the hell…” He trailed off while walking closer, making a circle around the other.

“Got a problem?” Hyunseung stood, legs slightly apart and hands crossed with a satisfied smile, quite confident that he had got it with all the planning where there seemed no other way out.

“Yeah,” The other responded and without a further notice Hyunseung suddenly felt himself being pushed back towards his house. He stumbled at first and tried to avoid the younger.

“Wha-?” He tried to ask but was interrupted.

“I won’t let this pass. No way,” the younger only muttered under his breath as he kept pushing the other who resisted quite a lot in the start but after some tries gave up. Not that it meant that he was about to let Junhyung win, oh no. Junhyung shouldn’t underestimate Hyunseung - he had thought up a scenario for this situation also. Like they say - think three steps ahead.

And frankly… He had all the time he needed to think.

“Jeez. Just let it go…” Hyunseung said with a sigh but a surprised yelp escaped his throat as he felt the apple to disappear and end up in Junhyung’s hand. “This is delicious!” And he took another bite out of it as he kept nudging the other.

“HEY!” Hyunseung exclaimed, quite in disbelief. There went his breakfast.

“Aah, how did this end up here,” Junhyung said with a grin to which the older only rolled his eyes.

They made it to Hyunseung’s house and entered, Junhyung was being polite and greeted his mother who of course had to walk over and pinch the younger’s cheeks, making Hyunseung mentally slap his forehead. Junhyung didn’t seem to mind it as much as he only smiled. The older on the other hand said the first thing that came into his mind as an excuse for coming back and they proceeded upstairs.

Junhyung can really adapt to different situations. No one would even guess what he does in his free time by the feeling he gave off at that same moment. He looked like a typical goody-two-shoes whose life only circled over studying and being nice.

“I’ll bring you snacks!” Was heard before they disappeared to the second floor. Hyunseung didn’t know what she was thinking. It was still early in the morning and not really the time to welcome guests with food. Sometimes it was a wonder how she never asked any questions, though freedom was also appreciated. If only it didn’t look like she had left her son totally on his own while getting busy trying to make her younger son go through the same trouble that the older had.

Well…Maybe this time it won’t go to waste… Hyunseung found himself thinking on a bitter note.

“Your mother is really nice,” Hyunseung heard from the younger but replied only with silence, making Junhyung try to glance over his shoulder only to see a blank expression. Hyunseung didn’t even want to think about it as every time he did - something build up, a mixture of anger and disappointment. Not anything new though.

“Well, isn’t this a familiar place!” Junhyung went and plopped down on the bed which made Hyunseung give out a slight shriek as he had just changed the covers. Luckily the younger only bounced a couple of times before his eyes seemed to fixate on something and he made his way towards it.

Hyunseung in the meantime sat down on the chair, chin on the backrest as he eyed the other’s back. He was still thinking on the best plan. There was still determination in his eyes as the satisfied smile remained - only in his mind.

“Here,” Junhyung finally said as he threw some clothes at the older who accepted with a sigh. He didn’t feel like playing dress-up at all.

5 minutes later Hyunseung entered his room to see Junhyung lying on his bed once again but raised his head slightly after hearing the door. He welcomed the older with a couple of claps in approval as he eyed Hyunseung up and down, making the latter uncomfortable and he changed the leg he supported his weight on. He had to move, even a slightest bit was fine. And like expected his eyes were glued to the ground.

But even in the midst of the discomfort he found the corners of his mouth rise slightly. It wasn’t the same flattering he had felt with the girls complimenting as it only boosted his ego. Something about Junhyung’s clapping let warmth spread though him, making him feel like a little child who had done something right and getting praised. The only difference was that he was no longer one now.

And since when he even cared what anyone thought?

“That’s a lot better!” Junhyung said as he stood up and started to walk towards the door. It was probably late and they both had to hurry to make it on time. Hyunseung stole a sneaky look before making his way to the bed fast, grabbing a hoodie he had thought on earlier - his chance of escape. After putting it on, he let out a contented smile before turning around to follow the younger.

Just then happened something that made him jump in his spot.

His eyes widened in surprise as the younger was standing exactly in front of him with a serious expression on his face. Hyunseung felt his heart taking up speed as the thumps got louder - it had been quite a shock. In a way it was even creepy how the younger had made it behind him without any noise. Or even without Hyunseung feeling any presence even though he was extremely sensitive about his surroundings.

“You’re not going to leave that on, right?” Junhyung’s eyebrows slightly rose, making it obvious that he expected a positive answer. The other couldn’t help but feel slightly intimidated.

“It’s chilly outside…” Hyunseung tried to make his ‘so-obvious’ voice as he trailed off, being extremely uncomfortable as he took a step back. It didn’t help though as Junhyung followed. And what was even worse was that the younger didn’t say anything.

At all. Just kept staring and Hyunseung felt like giving up if this kept going on any longer.

“What?!” Hyunseung tried to slightly push the younger away but the latter didn’t move. Not even the slightest bit. Well, this was a situation Hyunseung couldn’t have predicted.

“That hoodie stays here,” Junhyung said with seriousness dripping from his voice.

“No. It’s chilly and I don’t want to get sick thank you very much,” Hyunseung tried to shoot back but knew it sounded weak as he felt his voice tremble slightly. And by the looks of it Junhyung noticed as he tilted his head right just a bit with that knowing confident look in his eyes.

“Let’s get something better, just take that off,” Junhyung said and gently tried to help Hyunseung but the other resisted, holding onto the parts which made it impossible as he let out a slight whine without meaning to.

“Why are you so stubborn, I told you we can find you something else to put on,” Junhyung still tugged on the hem of the hoodie but Hyunseung still had no thoughts of giving in.

“NO!” He almost shouted as he pulled the hoodie with quite a force, making him fall backwards on the verge of the bed and Junhyung also as he was still clutching onto it. Hyunseung felt the younger crash into him but didn’t have any time to pay attention as the other still seemed to stick to his plan no matter what and kept tugging on the hoodie.

They ‘wrestled’ quite a bit, somehow Junhyung ending up on top of Hyunseung as his legs were each on the opposite sides, pinning him down enough to get an access to the hoodie which was the main goal. It was still difficult as Hyunseung kept shoving his hands away. There was no sign that any of them was going to admit defeat any time soon.

Junhyung even managed to play around as he messed up the other’s hair in the meantime, probably a try to divert his attention.

And then there was a knock on the door which made both boys freeze in their spot, not even blinking.

They hadn’t even time to react as it opened to reveal Hyunseung’s mother whose expression showed light surprise but she managed on a warm smile soon. “Oh boys, I’m sorry for interrupting your little game. Just brought the snacks,” she said and she left as soon as she had appeared.

What a sight must’ve been opened before her - his son who she still considered a child being in such a suggestive position while another one was on top of him (who she also considered a nice guy), trying to get his clothes off. And it seemed in quite a hurry also. What thoughts she must have…

The boys looked at the door for some seconds before slowly meeting with each other’s eyes, both pairs widened. Hyunseung was the first to notice this awkward situation. And to add it up, it was even more awkward for Hyunseung as he was especially self-conscious at that moment, feeling every single part where Junhyung was touching against him.

Hyunseung couldn’t help but flush red.

Junhyung on the other hand looked at the older with confusion at start before a slight ‘Oh’ escaped the back of his throat and he got off.

“Well, this was awkward. I hope your mother doesn’t get the wrong idea,” Junhyung said and apologized also. “Should I explain?” Hyunseung couldn’t really think as he just gestured with his hand that it was ok and that he would take care of it himself. He also couldn’t trust Junhyung to do the talking as it wasn’t sure what nonsense his mind would come up with. He usually didn’t care about his mother’s opinions much but this time…it seemed a bit over the top.

Talk about bad timing.

For something that wasn’t even what it seemed.

“But I still win,” Junhyung said as he grabbed a piece of a pie on the table and they both left, Hyunseung still quite embarrassed over meeting with his mother’s eyes. What irritated him though was Junhyung’s carefree personality as he seemed to have almost forgotten it already. But that was more jealousy as he couldn’t act like the other so easily.

What was surprising was that her mother still seemed as cheery as before. Almost as if nothing had happened at all. Hyunseung let out a sight in relief. It really seemed as if she had seen it as playing around.

When they reached outside Junhyung suddenly started to laugh.

“Yah! This is serious. What if she thinks I like men now or sth!” Hyunseung cried out, bringing a hand through his hair.

Junhyung still kept laughing.

There was another surprising moment that morning. Something that shouldn’t have been so but still was. Now was the time when Hyunseung found out why Junhyung was always late to school.

I knew he was a player. Hyunseung thought as they had said their byes and Junhyung went off to a group of girls, putting an arm around one and tilting her back in a princess manner, giving her a kiss. Of course the other girls shrieked with joy, which made Hyunseung only cringe.

“Argh, he should at least keep it to private or something. What’s next - making out in the middle of the class?” Hyunseung voiced his discontentment as he was once again eating lunch with Yoseob who didn’t really share his opinions.

“Let him do what he wants, it’s not like it has anything to do with you,” he only said as he kept giving his own fangirls slight show with food he was eating almost in slow motion. Hyunseung only rolled his eyes even though in the back of his mind he knew he should agree.

Hyunseung looked away, the wind was picking up the speed as clouds started to appear. Just as reflecting his own mood as for some reason he felt kind of sad. Lately they had become quite good friends with Junhyung but still they knew almost nothing about each other. He didn’t even know he had a girlfriend - if she was one. They only met only a while ago which has passed fast but why did it give off a feeling like they had known each other for a lot longer?

And even better question - it hadn’t been on Hyunseung’s mind before but why was it paining him now?
