Hey Ted! I'm Jessica! I'm 21 and was diagnosed with Hodgkin's about 3 months ago! If your at stage 2, your sitting pretty good!!! I have stage 3 and I just finished my 2nd month of chemo! Only 4 more months to go!!!! So far, i've experienced many highs and lows...especially emotionally. Everyone is different as far as the symptoms and effects.
After you first few treatments you may experience: -your hair falling out (your scalp will itch like crazy) -lose the taste of some foods (i use a lot of pepper and hot sauce, it helps!) -some foods you won't even be able to look at b/c the thought or smell will make you sick -mouth sores, your tongue may feel like its burnt, throat soreness -you may pee a lot -you'll be extremely tired -you may have trouble concentrating -nausea
thats all I can think of for now....let me know if i can help you with anything else! :) ~jess
I start chemo on Wednesday, so it is all good to know. At this point I don't have nearly as much interest in food as I used to, I can barely force myself to eat at times.
Did the side effects tend to occur the day of chemo, or is it a couple of days after that things start to happen?
Good Luck!!!!sweet_pea5786November 28 2007, 04:18:13 UTC
Good Luck on Wednesday!!!! You'll be just fine!!!!! With the first chemo, you'll probably feel nauseated the day of and up until about 3 days after....but the other side effects tend to occur the couple days after chemo.
O yea, don't forget to drink lots of fluids!!!!!!You'll get dehydrated very easily!!!!!
