The 1950s! Filled with teen-agers, high ponytails, and poodle skirts! The Doctor had a passing fancy to take them to the '50s for a 'proper ice cream soda', which was fine by Lynda who now sported the latter two hallmarks of the '50s with great flair

One benefit of his time as a Time Agent is that Jack has trained himself to dress in static clothing: that is, clothes generic enough to blend into most any era.

So he's looking quite fine in a fitted t-shirt and jeans, enjoying his ice cream soda with perhaps a little too much enthusiasm.
