Say you live in an apt building and you have to have a parking pass in your car to park in the adjoined lot, and you do have that pass in your car.  You go on vacation for two weeks and come back to find your car gone.  You call the apt people an they say it was towed and you have to go pick it up and pay for it.  What do you do?

I'm not sure...this happened to my friend that I was catsitting for. I went yesterday and her car was gone, so I let her know and she called the apt people and they said they towed it and the last I heard she had to go get it and pay for it, which I think is f'd up. I am guessing the reason was that it was in the same spot for almost 2 weeks??

I'm sure that's why they did it. A lot of apts say you have to move it every 48 hours.

Either way, I'd burn the building down.

yeah, i guess next time i would call the apt people and let them know i'd be gone and ask them to please not tow it. or have someone move it.

I think she's got an argument on her hands for sure. Depending on the conditions of the parking permit, I think if she wants to fight it hard enough, she can probably get the complex to pay her back for the towing costs. But yeah, next time she should definitely tell them she's going to be gone for a while and that her car will be remaining in the same place.

i would look at my lease to see if there are any restrictions with the provided parking. if they don't list any kind of time limit, i would contact them regarding the bill.
