So here's the thing- I've been SOOO busy. And when I'm not busy (like on the weekends, etc) the LAST thing I want to do is sit in front of a computer some more. Still, this isn't a great excuse. I can waste some time at work with the best of them. I will try harder. : )
First,
sallyk tagged me to do a meme some time back.
1.) Total number of films I own on DVD/video: Okay. So, I didn't even have a DVD player before I started dating my sweetie. I probably owned about two dozen VHS tapes, though. Many of them are now in storage in the basement. Most of the DVDs we have "belong" to
k8ee_101. I have actually bought perhaps a dozen of those. I'm not sure how many we have total.
2.) The last film I bought: Hmmm... I think it was Stand by Me.
3.) The last film I watched
a. In the theatre: Star Wars, Episode III (last night, actually)
b. On DVD: Kinsey (a Netflix rental)
4.) Five films I watch a lot, or that mean a lot to me:
Reality Bites (
k8ee_101 is actually a bit disgusted with how much I watch it, I think)
The Wizard of Oz
The Sound of Music (my mom and I used to watch it ALL THE TIME together, acting out the parts and singing EVERY song)
Dirty Dancing (Alaina and my very favorite growing up)
Gone with the Wind (Krissy and my very favorite in high school)
5.)

olde_scratch In recent news, Lyndzapalooza was a blast. The very best yet, and Dante has an audio recording of all 13 acts that performed. Good times, good music, good food and drink, and most importantly GREAT people. I'm so lucky to know so many talented, wonderful individuals. And it actually turned out to be a good thing that Adelle's party was the same day (although I'd like to have been able to go). I saw some people at 'palooza who probably wouldn't have been there otherwise, like Laurel and the Rachel formerly known as Rossi (her new last name escapes me...). All I needed were a few people from down south to make the day complete. I'm thinking maybe next year? ; )
I headed down to Atlanta last weekend for a MacNair party with Dante and
rikarubin, which was really fun. Long drive for a party, but I think it was worth it. Beautiful house, gorgeous land, and wonderful pool (with hot tub). And more food than anyone could possibly eat in three days. It was great seeing Sara as well. A sort of mini-reunion.
This past weekend was wonderful. As I think
k8ee_101 already mentioned, we got a lot accomplished, especially in the backyard. It's a nice little sanctuary now, a place I look forward to going home to, to sit and relax in the beautiful weather we've been having. And when it gets too hot (as it always eventually does) we can turn on the sprinkler and frolick. : )
I've got a meeting today with my advisor at Temple. He wants to know my short- and long-term goals before we decide on my coursework for this year. I'm excited to get the ball rolling so I can start preparing my mind for "school mode" again (assuming my mind was EVER in school mode to begin with). It will be a brand new challenge working full-time and taking classes. I always look at
k8ee_101, and I'm amazed at how she's able to do both, and do both well. I suppose I will finally find out for myself very soon!
I think that's about it for now... More frequent updates from now on, I hope.
