We just need to hold them under 155 final tally. Right now they're elected or leading in 150...

Any word on voter turnout numbers? I'm really curious how/if that played into this election.

As soon as I saw the Atlantic Canada results, I knew it wasn't going to go well in English Canada - the Conservatives not only didn't lose votes, they actually picked some up. So even including the vote split effects, the net campaign was a loss.

The fact that the Liberals failed to find a policy or image that cracked into the Conservative core following doomed them.

This Op-Ed that ran in the Mercury a fortnight ago isn't about Canadian politics at all, but it clarified some things in my mind: http://www.guelphmercury.com/opinion/columns/article/516435--u-s-civil-war-has-never-really-ended

It really helps at a time like this to remember that it doesn't have to be that way.

The conservatives scare me even more after reading this sort of information:

Just one comment - the Conservative Party of Canada is definitely not the Progressive Conservatives. From what I remember, these guys were formed from the Reform / Alliance group and changed their name to try and get votes from the eastern part of Canada. I guess it worked. Sigh.

The PCs were far more moderate than these guys are. I fear for my healthcare now, more than ever.

The east went Orange - it's the prairies and northern BC that gave Harper his majority.
