By the way, I too had considered going into social work/psychology kind of work, but I was unfortunately talked out of it by my folks, but I feel that I'm never too old to change my life around and who knows, I may become one someday!

OMG...it's totally never too late. And there's so much diversity in the field, so many avenues you can go down. Do you have an undergraduate degree? I can tell you if you get your undergrad in psychology, you might be best suited to get your graduate in SW. So many students at my uni ended up doing that because it was much easier to get jobs. Unless you want to go all the way and get your PhD in psych, social work is probably a good option. It depends on the uni too, and what sort of programs they offer. Especially the bigger ones, and ones in cities, you can specialize in certain areas, such as non-profits, child welfare, etc. Best wishes!!! :)
