New Beginnings

I am roused from sleep by a deep rumbling.  An inquisitive and very cold nose pokes the crannies of my face, “Are you awake?” it purrs.  Poke, poke.  I am now.
“Hi Hooter.  How’s my boy?” I mumble, reaching out to stroke the soft black fur and to gently remove a probing paw from my ear.
He has the good sense to keep his claws retracted.  Hooter ( Read more... )

My husband was out of town. Took the dog to her favorite store, Petsmart. Knew I shouldn't have stopped in the adoption area to see who the Humane Society had brought over, but.....
He's turning out to the the BEST cat. Luckily he won my husband over when he got back from his trip. The dog... not so much :)

We were meant to be. It's so much fun to have a cat in the house again. He has really long, sharp claws, but he totally when he needs to not use them.

THANK YOU. I haven't written a thing (unless you count Facebook updates and comments :) ) in two months. So much going on I've been sort of creatively drained. Wanted to jump in here again with something simple and a way to say "I have a new cat!". Now I don't know why I waited so long to add a cat to our household.
Maybe he will turn out to be my muse :)

Well, I am see I was outvoted in the name department! ;-) jessibud October 14 2010, 10:37:45 UTC
He is adorable. Poor Lizzie. Dogs are great but even though not always dignified in a cat kind-of way, she will get over it (unlike cats, who tend to hold onto grudges more, I've found)

LOL. We tried out several names... Tango was high on the list... but he just IS Hooter. It really suits him. He is so much fun... I keep his cat food dishes right here on the desk next to my computer desk (I'm still using the furniture my son left behind so the room is sort of cludged together).
Having so much fun with this little guy.

Congratulations on the new member of your household - he's gorgeous! I ended up with two lovely cats from PetSmart (about two months apart) after my big, beautiful beastie died. They're crazy and hilarious, and I'm so happy I had the chance to bring them home. Hopefully Lizzie will warm up to him soon :)
