Hey, hope you are feeling stronger and better soon.
You should try getting a little indoor herb garden going in some clay pots or something. I've heard good things about them. I'm going to be trying that myself. We have a really sunny kitchen window and you might be able to do the same as long as you adjust blinds to get the right amount of light, and such. I know a lot of herbs adjust well to growing in pots.
We have cats. Cats just LOOOOOOVE to eat plants. Ours also LOOOOVE to knock things over in the windows. Otherwise, I'd certainly try growing stuff inside.
You may be okay with Rosemary. It's a woody plant, and is apparently hard to kill. I've been neglecting the shit out of mine for over six months now. it's still outside, on my deck (in MICHIGAN), having received no real care for months. And it's still alive.
We like rosemary, so that's good to know. My daughter is particularly fond of using it as a garnish as well as a seasoning. It certainly goes well with poultry.
See, you don't have to choose between Pratchett and Gaiman. Have you read their combined-effort Good Omens book? Funtabulous! It's like a whoopjamoboree at the turn of every page. ;)
I've only read Good Omens a few dozen times. I've worn out several copies. I've also given away several copies. I think I've bought at least 20 copies of Good Omens, and each and every one of them new volumes. I've also read the Sandman comics and a book of Sandman short stories.
