Except in this episode, in which nostaliga was FREAKING AWESOME.
LIZ! I miss her so much. It was terrific to see her again. It would have been nice to see her and Damon have a scene together, because I always loved their dynamic. But the look on Caroline's face when she saw her... OH, MY HEART. It was enough to watch them hug.
GRAMS! Seeing all these family anchors again made me realize how much the show has been missing since Liz died. And Bonnie's comment to her Grams: "I've never been this happy." LOVE.
I was never Vicky's biggest fan, or Tyler's, but it made sense to have them reappear - especially as they relate to Matt. He will never forgive Damon for killing them (nor should he), but it was still nice to see Damon apologize. And I loved Damon's line, "I always did like the sherrifs in this town." <3
Damon reading his letter to Bonnie was lovely. Kat Graham's face as she listened - it was perfect.
All the peacemaking feels like the beginning of the end for the show. I'll admit, I haven't been as invested in it since Elena left, but I will still be sad (and yes, nostalgic) to see the end of it.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled daily political shit show.
