TVD 8.16 - I Was Feeling Epic
I really didn't care about the plot. All I wanted was for the show to hit all the right emotional moments with the characters, and boy, did it ever.
Katherine pretending to be Elena newly-risen from her slumber was HILARIOUS. "Rude!" Classic Katherine. Wow, I have missed Nina Dobrev on this show.
The renunion between Bonnie, Elena and Caroline was the best. THE. BEST. I love their friendship so much.
So much angst with Stefan and Caroline. But you know, they just got married, so one of them had to die. I'm kind of glad it wasn't Caroline, tbh.
I don't know how I feel about Stefan sacrificing himself to save Damon. I think I would have preferred it if the two of them went up in flames together. But it's nice that Damon and Elena were reunited. And I think if Katherine had to die, she would rather die in Stefan's arms than anywhere else. I know that there aren't supposed to anymore dopplegangers (for reasons I can't remember) but I keep thinking that 500 years from now, there will be another Stefan and Katherine living out their lives in epic splendor.
Bonnie saving the world was BADASS. The moment where all of the Bennett ancestors appeared alongside her reminded me of "Chosen." Woman power is always my favorite, and the fact that this was all African American women made it even better.
I'm glad Bonnie gets to be happy, and that she can still sense Enzo watching over her.
Why do I have a feeling that Klaus's daughter Hope will one day show up at Caroline's school for the young and gifted? Ever since they killed off Cami on the The Originals, I've had a feeling that Caroline would show up again on that show. Sadly, it doesn't look like we're getting a Season 5, so they only have a few episodes left to bring her in, if that's their plan.
I like that they brought Jeremy back, even if he only had one line. I would have liked to see him and Elena reunite, but it was enough just knowing that they get to live out their lives together.
I bawled through the last 10 minutes of the show. Most days, I don't believe in an afterlife, or even in god. But for those 10 minutes, I totally did. Stefan reuniting with Lexi! Tyler and Vikki watching over Matt! Jo watching over Alaric and their girls! And the best was Elena reuniting with her parents. So much joy.
And of course, Stefan and Damon, together again.
Thanks for 8 great years, show. Your stories were sometimes silly and the plot twists were occasionally dumb, but your characters were epic.
