there's at least 4 things here to bore you with

1. I'm totally stumped on a meme/prompt that daystarsearcher gave, but mostly in a good way...just got to get those non-fic creative juices flowing. Because this meme is everything I loved about writing with my writing partner ( Read more... )

randomness, tv: oz, family, work

3. You know, Steve Martin's character wasn't a bad parent. He just worried overmuch about the stuff he can't control. Which has nothing to do with what you were writing, but I felt the need to point it out, as supportive as I am of anyone's decision to not have kids.

2. I have seen the worst kind of review whore, and you are nowhere even near that person's universe. It's okay to want feedback. IT's even OKAY TO ASK FOR IT. And keep in mind, some people may be waiting for the story to be finished to read it. I hardly ever read WiPs, and then by the time the author finishes, I forgot it existed, unless said author posts some announcements somewhere to let people know it's done. So post some announcements somewhere to let people know it exists. That's what comms were for, I thought. You can just link directly to ff.net.

4. I did this out of order, but Oz-WAT?!? I fucking loved that show. Chris Meloni was the sexiest sadistic gay man-prisoner ever. Hubba.

4. The guy who plays Beecher was actually on SVU last week. I didn't watch, but one of my flisters does caps and I have to say the chemistry is still there. Just looking at the pics you'd have some serious questions about Det. Stabler.

3. And I didn't think he was a bad parent...and I don't even think I'd be a bad parent per se, but I would be the parent who would have panic induced fantasies about my kid ending up as the guy in a watch tower with a gun because I made him play second base (also I watched the Parenthood series pilot over the weekend and it's pretty good).

2. eh...I was planning to advertise more once I have it finished...once I post it here...but most of the stuff on FF is WiPs...I don't know I'll get over it. Sometimes when it comes to fic I feel like I'm in this wierd middle ground where I'm not one of the OMG! amazing writers, but I'm also not the so-so writer but with fun outlandish plots...it's a weird place...

4. I have serious questions about Chris Meloni, honestly. I think he just reads "gay" no matter what role he's playing. Is that wrong of me? Can't help it.

3. Missed that (the pilot) and I'm sad because I love Lauren Graham so very much (total girl crush, me).

2. Some fandoms are like that. Hell, Hot Fuzz is like that. I just happen to be one of those writers that everyone reads. I think because of my association with Ann, which is incidental. I was automatically assigned to a clique I don't have a membership card for! It's funny, in a way, how even a tiny fandom divides itself. Personally, I think you should get off ff.net, because there are just too many teenagers there. I avoid it like the plague.

4. After seeing him as Keller I can't really blame you.

3. Lauren Graham is kind of adorable. I should add Gilmore Girls to my netflix....so many people have told me to watch it. I have no idea what kind of cable you have but I've found it's all basically the same....so you may be able to find the pilot on OnDemand...that's where I found it as it's on past my bedtime and I do not have a DVR.

2. You know I've often been surprised by how many teen and early 20 year olds there are in the CI fandom...just never caught me as a show that would grab that age group...of course I guess I shouldn't judge -- one of my favorite shows when I was in HS was "Profiler"...but to defend my judmentalness even in HS I was often refered to as "the mom"

So many folks (like me) gave up on ff.n after a crowd of very poor writers from a certain board pretty much took over the place 1-2 years ago. They flooded it with....well, I had a very snarky sentence here, which I've decided was undignified. As a result, I miss the good writers who post there, especially those who don't post anywhere on LJ. :(

Join lawandorderfic and post a header and link there. Keep in mind some people just won't give you feedback if it's on the Pit, though.

Oh just say it! I have an idea and think I know what you mean, but maybe not, who knows. all of the ff writers whether on ff.net or Lj seem very clique-ish. If you aren't part of their posse then they aren't going to read and that's messed up to me.

I'll post to comunities here once it's actually finished. I guess I should just take ff.net as a test run...

2. fanfiction.net has totally went downhill since i started reading there over 7 years ago. my fanfics are NOT the greatest but i know i'm not as bad as some of the authors over there that slap words to screen and post without having anyone look at it. and songfics just about kill me. i've done a few in my day but i know some authors ONLY do that. and then the good stuff gets over looked. i've read that one fic of yours and you are a very talented author. I'm going to look you up on fanfiction.net. what is your penname?

Yeah...sometimes ff.net can be very disconerting because BAD writing is often rewarded more than good just because that particular author has the most "friends." And thank you for the compliment. It's actually the story that I emailed you long again that I actually, finally picked up again. Though it's ended up going someplace way different than I intended.

I'm lynne z over on ff.net. I'd give you the URL, but can't access it on my work computer...I guess they don't want me spending my day reading through my favs list ;)

I read the story! :-) Left a review, too. I wish I could keep up more with fanfic but there have been so many horrible stories posted there I don't check as often as I used to. Good to see you're writing ( ... )

Thanks for reading...I'm almost finished with the story...just one more chapter. I've been writing a lot just not posting. And I know what you mean...there's very little good fic right now...kinda sad.

I finished S.3 of Oz so I'll get started on 4 this weekend probably. Its really good...and really like Str. Peter Marie too. Everyone is so good.
