I guess mostly feedback, but any slips grammatically would be nice too. What does beta mean exactly? I've never understood where that phrase comes from. I come from a workshop background where its all encompassing -- you read both for content and grammar while editing...or you edit while reading before workshoping a piece and then workshop about content...

Sorry, I hope that doesn't sound rude...I'm just geniunly curious because this is a different medium...

And if you have time to read it all finished...I'd appreciate it.

a beta is someone that reads for grammar and spelling and content (if the author wishes to have the content critiqued)

A beta reader is supposed to read for content and grammar and give concrit. Some people who write for fandoms set in other countries have betas specifically for language and culture (for example, British fandoms call it "Britpicking"). Some betas act more like cheerleaders (which has its place...it's nice to have someone pushing you along, giving you pats on the back and encouragement to write/finish a story), but a true beta is someone willing to point out your errors, show you where you can improve, and check for characterization and canonocity ( ... )
