Yes. This.

I can't stop thinking about how this brilliant, under-appreciated show became a caricature of itself these past few seasons. So much so that I lost my deep love for even Goren and Eames at times. I was thinking about how some shows that start to lose their focus and spark can still hold my interest because I still care about the characters, but that barely happened here. You know there's still that one episode from the last G/E season that I never watched?

The last five minutes was nice and all, but overall, I think I'll stick with watching reruns of older seasons (I actually liked S5 quite a bit) and letting the rest go.

But now we have to pick a new show to text-bitch each other about!

Well I thought that show would be obvious - Criminal Minds especially with how they're going to finagle pulling off bringing back the two female leads they fired!_

That will be interesting to see. Hopefully, it'll stay on Wednesday nights, as that's about the only night I'll have free to watch TV in the fall.

I can see it now...

Diana: Um...where did Spencer go?
Lindsay: Well, he had his five minutes of screentime already...

"Pretty white people with problems" has been one of my main issues with CI for a long time. They got called out on it in 'Purgatory,' but then the issue got buried again. *sigh*

At least the ending was super-sweet.

Yeah thats really a problem with TV in general - even more so now with all the damn Housewivrs shows and things like Laguna Beach.

But yeah the last five minutes was just beautiful...particular if your a shipper and addicted to the littl looks and subtext. Hog heaven I say

So true - as a shipper the last scene was absolutely perfect. Perfect because I knew the show would never really "go there", yet we got the looks and his calling her "Alex" into which all of us shippers can read boatloads! And I loved that they are going on to do what they've always done.

I thought the writing was really well done this season. Or maybe it was that they let VDO rip with Goren like they've never done before (see that interview with VDO I think for Australian TV).

And KE looked better than ever. I want her arms!

Well, I enjoyed this season. Icarus was probably my favorite episode because of all the tongue-in-cheek moments.

And also, Patti Smith is awesome.

But I thought this final case file was so-so.

I liked the shrink scenes I and I thought Goren being so reticent to face his fears is believable. Trust me, when you hit 50, fixing your demons from the past isn't easy. It's easier to just bury them and ignore them.

But in Goren's case, it was preventing him from functioning well on the job upon occasion and in dealing with male authority figures.

I think season 4 was my most favorite season. And I'm one of those who hated season five except for Cruise to Nowhere, To The Bone and ITWSH. I really enjoyed Warren Leight's work but I'm probably in the minority on that.

The ending was perfection, though. Warren Leight gave us that. Goren and Eames working out there together. They're so complex and so right together.

I'm even thinking of a fic to write. I've been inspired by those looks. ;-)

I'm glad your inspired. We need some more writer in this fandom because most of the fic now, honestly, kind of sucks. I have lots of started tics...it's just a matter of what inspires me. That last scene was so promising and I can see writing several fic of gem maneuvering around this new found relationship (because in my cannon they total slept together somewhere in-between catching the Liz ate lady and her meeting him outside his session) while he's still working through his shit and what shit that relationship would bring up for her.I don't know we'll see.

I think my favorite ep was the last street in manhattan and it's the one I haven't been able to catch a rerun of. Plus dad Eames!

And like I said I get the reluctance I just feel like it should have been played differently.

Oh yeah, The Last Street in Manhattan was pretty good, too. Loved meeting Mr. Eames. Loved that he seemed pretty familiar with Bobby.

I think that ending inspires a lot of fan fics. The awkward pauses. The 'eye sex.' OMG lol How anyone can think these two aren't going to get horizontal eventually is beyond me. lol

You put it perfectly. For my part, I liked that the therapy sessions IMO highlighted that Goren feels too damaged for a relationship, yet as he leaves his last session -- there she is, waiting for him. And when he calls her Alex? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think he has ever addressed her as anything but Eames.

I've watched that last scene over again at least 4-5 times, eventually I'll tire of it, I know. :)

Oh, so nice to hear you liked it. I'm still waiting to have an emotional reaction about it - but thus far, I'm not...
