huuuuu I went to Anime USA. It was a damn good time. I like this con so much more than AMA; people actually try at this con.
Friday: So firstly, zach came at like eight in the morn to take me to school and wait around while i finished up my friday classes. Then we booked it down 295 and got there and junk. IT WAS PROBABLY THE MOST HECTIC DAY, WRY. it was a really packed day. all this stuff we wanted to do overlapped!
this is us:
Zach went and bought his costume offline and i have to say it was good looking.
I started off friday by wearing a firenation toph outfit i made for AMA.
guuuuh walking around Crystal city for dinner is kinda....awwwwkwaaaard.
ANYWAY i think a huuuuge highlight of this con was the Pirate vs. Ninja Dance off. I sided with the pirates, of course, and damn if i didnt shake it.
blurry picture is blurry but im throwing up the horns right there?
im so proud of myself, i won the "I Ain't Afraid of No Peeps" Award, but i wasnt there to receive it: I left early to go to change for the formal dance. That was really fun too, and a complete 180 from my crazy hip hop...thingers.
I dont have pictures from the ball. [sad face]
Saturday:
Here's what i wore for the day!
BEFORE:
AFTER:
I made this dress out of a two piece dress from Goodwill and i think it's my favorite costume so far. I can take out the yellow part for added comfort/style.
HOLY SHIT YOU GUYTHSSS i met Mookie and Aido, two webcomic artist that i love! I got a picture with Mookie!!!
but not with Aido...because i was so awkward and embarrassed...you see, Aido was a huge influence in my art when i was first really getting into drawing and making up my own style...so to meet her was like....AAAH. and so i didnt ask for a picture but i did buy a print from her...jfkldsajfdslka now that i think about it, im like wtf was i thinking?!
hmmmn other people we got pictures with:
Riza!
Sparrow!
TWINS
"Why aren't you hosting? You're not bringing in money!"
Nekozawa
each other?
not that many people haha.
laaater that daaay...
So there was this thing where this freaky japanese rock band that was all dudes but really pretty dudes name Versailles had like a five hour sound check and it held everything up including a rave. So me and zach go outside and looow and behold, everyone from the dance off was there and as soon as the see me everyone starts screaming and it kind of freaks me out and then some guy even picks me up and spins me around. Apparently, i was popular (LAWL) at the dance off and there's a stereo out there and they got me to dance again and a good time was had. We kept moving in and out of the hotel and me and zach thought it was a good time to leave when security started hovering.
A suck thing about the con was that we decided to save money and stay at zach's friend's house Jill! AUGH. she had no bed for us and no pillows so we had to share a couch. Look, a couch is fine for one person but not for two. AND she had two cats that kept running over me in the night and pawing at my costumes and stuff. AUGH NO.
ANYWHO, Sunday was like...surprising! There was a band named Peelander-Z and initially me and zach are like....naaaah we arent interested. We get to the con kinda early anyway and we go into a room to see what all the hubub is about and WOW this band is FUN. So we stay and rock out for the last part of their set.
BEHOLD!
they're crazy! they started pulling people out of the crowd and handed them the instruments they were playing and just told them to wail and keep playing!
a million people with various intruments, including a stick and a pot, were on stage and then Peelander Pink parted the crowd and they set up bowling pins and they WENT BLOWING IN THE CROWD. AWESOME.
Then they brought down all their instruments and rocked out in the middle of the floor.
KEEP PLAYING!
MAN IT WAS SO LOUD I COULDNT HEAR ANYTHING FOR A FEW MINUTES.
DJ Sai Son was there! this guy was flown in from Japan and he was there to mix up the rave, i guess, but he was up on stage and being a good sport and dancing around like everyone else. I like him much more than Versailles, who just doesnt like to be seen by the general public...cuz they're so snooooty.
So the Peelander concert was over and so for the last act of their show they recreated that one scene from Titanic. You know the one.
After that there was a martial arts demonstration of sorts...and i admire the dedication and discipline the people had...but it was pretty boring...expecially after the P-Z concert.
BONUS PICS!
So we decided to leave and get lunch and head home. I'm sure im forgetting quite a lot about this convention, but....IT WAS SO GOOD.
