Well said! Over here in UK a lot of them use it as an excuse to live on benefits and get social housing. Some of them are even proud that their 4 offspring each have a different father.
With near on 7 billion people on the planet we need to slow down producing more mouths to feed. And this from someone with 3 children.
I've recently become deeply involved with the consequences of twit pregnancy and it just irritates me how much this girl has screwed over her children with her irresponsible behavior.
I completely agree with your second paragraph. If you cannot have biological children, yet you feel your life needs children, your purpose in life should be perfectly clear. You are meant to be a foster or adoptive parent. There are sooooooo many kids out there that need good parents that it's absolutely ridiculous to INSIST on having scientifically created, biological children.
As far as the first paragraph goes, I don't think it's about conditioning. I've heard of the 'popular girls' (ie, the ones with big bouncy titties and itty bitty waists) wanting to have babies for stupid reasons. I DO believe a proper sex ed course would help things considerably but I don't think body image is the core problem. It's more a complete lack of what having a baby actually means and entails in the long run. They've got some idea that it's like playing with a doll.
Ha! Maybe that's why I actually have some common sense on the matter. I never played with dolls and I had two younger brothers. :P
I think there are those people who treat children like they're going to solve their "lack-of-love" problem, not admitting to themselves that children are a responsibility and deserve a chance to live happy, healthy, full lives independent of ulterior motives from a needy parent.
It upsets me that the birth of a child is used in so many wrong ways, like what Biblo42 said about getting benefits and social housing.
The stigma of sex education and birth control for many in America is appalling, to say the least. Sex education and birth control are sorely needed and necessary. Because if they aren’t available, the people who suffer the most from this ignorance will be the young girls who are stuck in a situation they don't understand, taking care of a baby when they barely have enough experience to take care of themselves (if they even can, considering who they may be living with, whether they be parents or guardians).

We all need to be a bit more responsible.
