This is brilliant and lovely and soft and sad and Caroline. Absolutely true to Caroline in every possible way and I love it to absolute pieces you are magnificent.

And as far as I'm concerned, canon.
Because killing off Liz was the straw that broke the camel's back and I'm fucking done with the writers.

ALSO - bravo for Caroline using Enzo's need to piss off Stefan to get him to have sex with her so that she knows for certain it's on her terms, but also for her it's not about Stefan at all.

And THANK for the repeated image of her still looking for Bonnie and keeping that part of her character.

You are brilliant and should write all the Caroline fic ever.

OKAY I'M SUCH A LAZY PERSON, I've been meaning to comment on this for days now but kept procrastinating it. bad bad girl.

Anyway, I LOVE this, it's 100% how I can absolutely see Caroline dealing with her moms death, choosing the human way of numbing the pain. And it is also a route I could actually see the show taking at least partly, basically just with a lot more Steroline thrown in there (not that I mind that adjustment ;)).

So, yes, as always you have Caroline down to a T. <3 And I'm just so glad that at least one of our muses seems to be cooperating, 'cuz mine seems to have decided to go into hibernation.

Also, WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT THE LATEST EPISODE AND THAT FUCKING ENDING! The show REALLY loves to screw with Caroline as if it wasn't enough that she was going to lose her mom, now they have to add the strong possibility that her interference has the opposite effect to the desired one and is going to cut the time she had left with her mom short instead of prolonging it. THIS FUCKING SHOW!

This was so beautifully written. I love how you reach back to Caroline's behavior and the cause of it sophomore year in HS, and how she acts out the same way to deal with Liz's death now. Caroline handled the transition to becoming a vampire the best (she never got addicted to blood, never turned off her humanity, and learned to compel her nurse right off the bat) because she was and will always be human first and foremost. Love how you end paragraphs with Caroline bringing different flowers to her mother's grave. There's just something about those lines. Laying flowers on her mother's grave and selecting flowers each week; it's visual, ordinary, routine, tradition, connection, solace, and something to look forward to ( ... )
