How Do Faeries Get About?

I have role played a Faerie for quite a while now without ever really know much of anything about Faeries, at least at first.  I've had to retcon plenty of information about Jewell as I slowly realized the difference between Fae and Faeries and decided which of those I wanted her to be (she's a Faerie but doesn't quite know the whole truth of that ( Read more... )

I'm going to suggest that you pick up the Dresden Files books by Jim Butcher. The first book of the collection is Storm Front. I, personally, own nearly all of his books. Butcher is a fantastic read, and as a huge myth and legend aficionado where fae and fairies are concerned, I've found that his version of things so far is my favorite and what I'd call "closest to the truth."

Butcher describes opening rifts or portals or doorways or pathways through the Veil, which is essentially the thin layer that separates our real world from the fairy realms. I think the Veil idea definitely is probably the most traditional one. It is somewhat tied into the ideas of Sahmain and Beltane, those being times when the Veil is supposedly thinner and Fae folk cross over because of it.

I'll have to sit down and have a Faerie movie day. I have seen parts of all three but never the whole of any.

Thanks :)
