Attempt number three of cooking salmon just ended in semi-failure. Half the fillet is probably inedible seeing as how it is very very burnt. I don't think the boy likes charcoal.
I hate everything that isn't chicken, ground beef, or pork.
Freakin fish.
Edited to add: Apparently I was so overcome by the smell of burnt salmon that I spelled "chicken

It actually didn't taste too bad, though! Once we got past the charcoal (which was basically the marinade burnt to a crisp) the inside was pretty yummy.
How long do you usually cook a fillet in the frying pan? I need numbers! Numbers!!
I have a bad habit of constantly cutting into meat that I am cooking to check and see if it is done.

Your problem with the cast iron frying pan is totally my problem with broiling. My house ends up filling with smoke (I've set the fire alarm off several times), and this morning it smells like burnt salmon (yuck!), and! I have a broiler pan with salmon stuck too it. Very exciting.
My husband was raving about cast iron frying pans just the other day. I've never used one but now I'm not so sure I want to try!

I don't usually mind experimenting. It turns out okay half the time! It's depressing to experiment with salmon, though, because if it is ruined that is a lot more money down the drain than if it were chicken!
