Blah. It has been a trying few days. I don't know why, particularly, because I haven't really done anything in a few days besides work. Work and work some more. ideas like these are the reason I need an extra 8-10 hours in my day. Or to learn how to live without sleep.

Margaret, I just enjoy explosions and killing people :( Why can't my work/school load let me have fun?

Re: Tangled. Um? From the ads, I got the impression that the dude in the movie was kind of a moron? Did I miss something?

Re: MCR. Oh man, so many mixed feelings. I really liked Bob. And while I appreciate them not pulling a Jon Walker on the fans, I also assume that nothing good or nice caused Bob to walk away.. and then there is the "ladyboy" thing, ugh... but on the other hand, I really appreciate the punk/rock/electronica thing they are doing? And I like the videos.... I think this is maybe a lot like liking the book/fanfic while thinking the author is a total dick?

Excellent points about HP and JKR and gay witches/wizards and muggles.

I don't know? I know from the articles and comments that were coming out around the time of the rename, they wanted more emphasis on him, but in less than eight months, they can't really "fix" the content of the movie too much, just a few scenes and the marketing. They already had too much money invested in this being Rapunzel to push it back.

Re: MCR. Bob was a big draw in that fandom for me. Bob and Mikey, and Mikey alone isn't enough to make me be like "hell yes band!" Like I said, I can't be down on anyone for liking them, because, yeah, okay they said some shit on twitter, and yeah Gerard is drinking a little here and there, and, okay, I can't forgive the ladyboy thing--but it's not like they are serial killers.

I was journal-surfing and ended up here, and, like, I love the idea of that RPG. I've never participated in one, and I don't really currently have the time for anything, but man, that's fun to think about.

Also, yes on MCR. I'm just not interested anymore. It's--there's a point where the interest in the music just becomes overshadowed by the amount of no-shit-did-they-just-say-that-fuck, and the acknowledgment without apologies or retractions of ladyboy really did it for me, because it came on top of such a host of other things. (I also still like Mikey, but he's not quite enough to tip the scale back over.)

Hello! \o/ ♥ ♥

They are really fun to think about. I had the privilege of being in an intensely active, dark and twisty game with people who were amazing at characterization. I don't think I've ever had that kind of fun before in a RPG.

Yeah. Yeah. That's pretty much where I am. I was in the fandom for Mikey and Bob! And then Bob left (except we're going to ignore the bob shaped hole) and there's just Mikey, and like you said, it's not enough to tip that balance. And now the whole "my sobriety wasn't as important to me as it was every one else" shit, and I'm just kind of over that. Really.

But, you. I owe you fic and have for almost a year. /o\ I keep meaning to track you down and ask you where you've moved, because if I'm in that fandom or interested in that fandom, I'd like to write you something.

I think I had a stronger reaction to the things said on Twitter because they ostensibly had made themselves out to be a somewhat aware band--for example, impertinence said at one point that it's not like we were expecting advanced queer theory, but the whole calling a fan a cunt thing is essentially fifth grade detention stuff, so it's harder to deal with when coming from a band that used to talk about feminism on occasion.

Oh, hey! Hmm. I haven't really moved fandoms, I just don't read or write MCR anymore, but I read a lot of things and I write a number of things, so if you want to write me a story (yay!), I'm sure we can collectively come up with a prompt that I'll be interested in and you'll like writing. I basically read everything, often with an emphasis on the female characters, and excepting stories about The Like and the former/current Panic boys, I write DC Comics, Veronica Mars, BTVS and now sometimes The Vampire Diaries, as well as a couple of smaller book fandoms. Where are you at, fandom-wise?

Yeah. I was less than thrilled when Bob put "cunt" on his wall, but...uh, no mcr. I have such a bad taste in my mouth over them trying to be all ~legit and better than their fanbase. Dude, teenage girls love you. If you want money and to have people actually listen to you, that is the best fanbase to have. They are buying machines. And what exactly is wrong with teenage girls?

I'm sort of... one foot in Marvel comics (particularly the avengers and Captain America), one in Inception (&Ariadne;), and a hand in Sherlock Holmes (mostly Sherlock BBC and 2009). I have a few smaller fandoms that I poke around in, I, too, greatly enjoy female characters and also reimagining the super-masculinized characters (like in comics fandom) as being born as female because of the things that are just gimmes because they are male. Like no one dare would suggest that Tony Stark step down as CEO because he's Iron Man and has a heart condition, but there would be comments made about it if Tony were a Antonia instead of an Anthony.
