OOC Thought: Small gripe: in the books, isn't Lyra supposedly able to translate the alethiometer instinctively? I haven't read them in a while, so I could be wrong...

[OOC: She *was* able to translate the alethiometer instinctively. When she Fell/acquired Dust/ate the Apple, she lost the State of Innocence which enabled her to read it in grace. Now she needs books.]
