I've spent the morning playing with the light box I got for Christmas, fiddling with it, seeing what works and what doesn't, making the house smell like over-ironed cloth.

Okay, my first thought with light box was one of those boxes you use for depression.

Then I realized it had something to do with crafting, so I ruled that explanation out.

However. Am still lost. What, exactly, is it?

a construct that diffuses and reflects light in such a way as to give soft, even lighting for photography, usually of small items. also called 'light tent'.

but I like the idea of my jewelry not getting depressed. :)
