Man, I loved that show, too, at least until Linda died of car. Kind of disappointing to learn that it doesn't stand the test of time. :(

I suppose it all depends on what you value. There's some stuff I go back and watch that's pretty horrible objectively, but that I still love very much.

It's just that I can see exactly why this was appealing to me as a 10-13 year old girl and it completely cracks me up.

LOL! I've been debating on going back and watching that as I saw the first season was released on DVD not too long ago. How funny.

On a slight sidenote, I think the main draw back to it for me was that the guy who plays the Beast is the same guy who played Hellboy. LOL!

I was very surprised when I had a look at his imdb profile. I will admit that I cannot picture his actual face at all, so I think I need to rent Hellboy and investigate further. *g*

He's a man whose face is greatly hidden by makeup for whatever reason. He's not bad looking, but he does good in those roles. I saw some behind-the-scenes stuff on Hellboy that talked about it. ;)

I think it might've just been something about the mid-80's...I used to love this show and never miss it and I was in my 20's then, but maybe the emo-porn thing got me then too *G*. I did start to think, towards the end of the series, that Linda Hamilton's character (Katherine?) was getting annoying for being (a) whiney, and (b) having only two expressions (crying and about-to cry).

Yeah, her range is not so much with the subtle expressions of emotion. *g* I think my big problem is that the whole set up is something that I know I would have loved once upon a time, but that just doesn't do it for me anymore. This is the same reason I rarely read science fiction or fantasy anymore. It's like a "been there, read that, next please!" thing.

You know those shows that you remember fondly from childhood, and you go back and watch them again and say "god, this is still awesome!"?

Yes! And I thought I was the only one! I can remember watcing that show at what seemed like midnight (though being 10 at the time, my sense of time was distorted). When I saw that it came out on DVD, I was midly curious as to what I'd think about it today. Probably the same thoughts as you, but the journey is in the adventure, after all. LOL

Well, yes, hope does spring eternal. I can still cheerfully sit down and watch The Transformers Movie and I totally have The Pirates of Dark Water in my netflix queue. I think my startlement was more that I remember this being a big hit with adults when it was on, and now I'm all like "...really?"
