So, as some of you may already know, I have this freakin' horn riff stuck in my head and I can't figure out what song it is from. Therefore, I've made an MP3 of it looped a few times in the hopes that some kind LJ community soul can place it for me.

This may not be right, but could it be from the song "Obsession" by the 80's group Animotion? As in:

You are an obsession
You're my obsession
Who do you want me to be
To make you sleep with me?

That's the first thing I thought of when I heard it. I hate it when I get songs stuck in my head and I can't remember what it's called. heh. :)

Then you must have felt that urge to launch a Cheetah over an embankment and into an unsuspecting old woman with a walker, and thereby should have realized that obviously it was in a GTA.

It's perhaps original "Obsession" of 1983 by Michael Des Barres and Holly Knight. Animotion would cover it in 1984, as noted above, and this gained notoriety as the closing credits' accompaniment on VH-1's "Fashion TV".

If not, it's probably the 12" remix version. It's definitely not their studio cut; I've put that here in case you cut that sample yourself and want the most well-known version.

Excellent detail work, sir. Now I just need to get it on vinyl. Surely it will be widely available at thrifty prices, given its popularity.
