What's your situation in terms of stuff and pets? Would getting help renting a storage place so you don't lose stuff if you are evicted be a worthwhile focus? If you have pets, do you have places for them to go with friends? On the latter, I'm in Ohio, so there's the non-trivial transport issue, but I could possibly help out on that front in a worst case scenario.

Scared is a valid and utterly rational response. It also sounds like you're clear on the immediate next steps, and that you've already been taking them.
Any reasonable options for zero or very low cost storage? The loft above my garage is across the country and has other issues that make it suboptimal for some things and fine for others. Can you minimize your storage expense by getting rid of (and maybe selling) some of the stuff you should be and can bear to unload?
