Congrats on owning your own house. What exciting time. And good luck. The house sounds great. Yay new title. Is it announced yet? if not, I hope it's announced this weekend. Is it a long series? complete or ongoing? well, I'll be patient and wait for the announcement :)
Ah, Finny. I'm glad he's well and cuddly. Post picture of the quilt when you're done :) How about the knitting project?
Thanks :D Yes, it's announced! Any time I mention a series and give extra info about it (publisher, how cute it is, etc) you can assume it's been announced and I'm giving hints to help you all discover what it is :) It's not a long series, it's ongoing but slowly. I think you will like it!
And yes, I'll share pictures of my quilt once I finish it! I've... been slacking on my knitting all summer so far. How 'bout you-any crafting you're currently up to?
Oh, it's announced. I guess I'm not good at guessing, then. Hm, the only Hakusensha title announced recently is Meteor Prince and it's already complete. Maybe, I should go back further. No knitting, just a lot of making potholder with loom. I'm thinking of turning those into a quilt. We shall see.
Woohoo, happy birthday! Sounds like you got a lot of awesome presents--a Hana to Yume title, we're so jealous! Oh, to someday be translating Hana to Yume again... On the other hand, My Little Monster is a good reminder of why that's not always ideal. (Not that we don't like My Little Monster, just that it's haaaaaard.)
Anyway, we're glad you're enjoying it! And congratulations on getting a house! Oh my goodness, you're so grown-up now! We hope you have a ton of fun decorating!
Aww, snuggly kitties. Page hasn't been very snuggly of late, which might be because she's been naughty about the litter box, so she and Athena are at odds. Anyway, wouldn't it be so nice to be able to communicate with cats?
Noooo, it's not Hana to Yume, just Hakusensha. I've still got that hurdle to over come, and Viz still has the (apparent) monopoly on HtY titles. Recall that the pages are light on both text and screentone! (yes I'm stereotyping about HtY manga, but if the shoe fits...) Every time you talk about how hard MLM is, it just makes me wish I could be the one lettering it. When it's for love, I wouldn't mind the hard work :) (but my schedule would.)
Thanks about the house too!! It's a little intimidating but exciting too. I hope I can make good use of my (generally limited) free time for decorating and keeping things up and not just laying around reading manga and books...
Aw, I hope you get things straight with Page :( It sure would be nice to communicate with cats beyond "Oh, you're doing this because you want food. I should feed you then." and the like.
Haha, the dangers of not double-checking! I guess I just tend to read the letters "hakusensha" as "Hana to Yume." That would really weird people out in connection to Ai Yori Aoshi. You make an excellent point about light text, but I always dream of exceptions (in fact Gakuen Babysitters does tend to be an exception, although technically that one's LaLa, but still Hana to Yume Comics). We totally agree on the hard work being worth it for love thing, and the schedule not being so forgiving thing. Also the heat. Everything's less fun to work on when it's hot.
Haha, okay, it's not under the Jets imprint of Hakusensha either. I don't think there are many of those I would consider "the cuuuuuuuuuutest thing everrrrrrrrrrrrrr" (but maybe I just don't know enough of them). And Gakuen Babysitters I would also call HtY based on the imprint... that one would qualify for cutest ever but I don't consider it light on text. Maybe just easy-text because of all the kid-talk and lower vocabulary level that comes with it. When you factor in all the crying and children who each need to repeat the same thing and fonts fonts fonts for all their little voices and handwritten asides 'most everywhere... I don't think it'd be an easy job to letter :) But oh, I would tackle it most readily given the opportunity!!!
Move to Michigan :) We've hardly had a day above the 80s this summer. (but I can't guarantee that's anything to be depended on for future summers. I hope you survive the heat! And do get a fan when you can!!)
Thanks!!! I do have pictures from the listing of its current retro decor... maybe I'll post before and after shots once I get in and start doin' stuff! :D
Congrats on all the great news! and the HOUSE OMG!!!!! I might need to pick your brain about being a single female freelance artist and buying your own home at some point. Since I certainly HOPE that's going to me be in the near future. *gulp*
Yay for the new title!! I think I can finally say the name of my new one. I need to post again. :P
And I'm very glad your cat is okay. It could be he had a really bad scare and barely escaped. Thus the hiding, and then snuggling when he did come out. Poor guy. Give him a scritch in my name. C:
Thanks!! Buying a house is not easy. Just today I found out the process has hit another snag in the form of the seller being wishy-washy and not wanting to follow through on some things he had agreed to (verbally, but not in writing). And other things (like chipping old paint that may have lead contamination and therefore must be fixed up before I can buy the house) are pushing back the date I can close (and therefore the date I can move in), and blarg... but it is what it is. I'll get there eventually! I'd be happy to answer any questions you've got to the best of my ability :) Have you found any significant leads in your house hunt, or are you still looking and considering your options? I hope the process goes more smoothly for you
