ugh...

I just finished the first lettering pass for a book and my heart is in turmoil. Grraaaaah. It can be such a sweet series, and the earlier books filled me with absolute delight, but this latest one has some questionable-to-just-plain-wrong developments taking up a good chunk of its pages and all I can think is Whyyyyyy, Japan??? Why would you mess ( Read more... )

project-not-being-named, meganebu!, anime, whining, glasses, manga, lettering

...Sorry, I didn't want to name the series to spoil it for anyone reading, or turn off readers if I'm overreacting (which I may be doing a little, in the heat of the moment). I'll just say that there were hints in the first volume, but I kept hoping they wouldn't develop into anything more...

Anyway, did you ever watch past the first episode of Meganebu? (I only saw a writeup for that one when I checked your lj.) I forgot to watch it when it was running, but read a review today and checked out a couple episodes since I had time. I just watched the fourth episode and got quite a few big laughs out of it :D Just the silliness I needed right now!

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to put you on the spot like that. I only watched the 1st episode of Meganebu and yes, I saw the review on ANN so I may watch it again ... I'm so glad that it helps you feel better.

Heh, no worries at all! I mean, it's my own fault for dropping hints about something and then not wanting to give the full details. Sorry about that.

I hope you find Meganebu! a nice diversion if you try it again :) As that kind of humour goes, I also watched the first episode of the new magical boy show last week and found it pretty entertaining too.

Oh, don't blame all of Japan for one manga artist's(/light novelist's) misdeeds!

We feel your pain, for we have been there before as well. We always try to get an idea of what kind of content is in store by checking the reviews at Amazon Japan, but it doesn't always help. Here's hoping it gets better!

Haha, you're right, blaming all of Japan is unfair. I just sometimes get tired of manga/anime/etc's love for certain tropes I find unpleasant.

Anyway, it's nothing "I can't work on this series anymore!" bad, just "I thought you were above this sort of thing..." bad so I'm not regretting my agreement to letter it. But I do feel a bit like I've been betrayed...

I'll totally check back with you in a few months to find out just what manga you're talking about now. You've made me curious. This probably says more about me as a person than anything else, honestly xD

Hahaha. You're terrible! (kidding.) But yes, once the book is out I'll try and remember to share more of my thoughts on the matter.

(also, nice surprise to know someone else besides the, like, four regulars on my lj friends list is reading! heh heh :) )

I wonder how long that'll last, though this was one of my new year's resolutions -- to read blogs more, to comment on blogs, etc. So far, so good.

...I think!

P.S: Also I could be doing this for an ulterior motive :D
