For the most part, I’m happy at my job. I love what I teach, my kiddos are pretty damn adorable, especially this year, my co-workers are all nice, and I get along really well with the special ed team. The admin leaves me alone, and I have the freedom to run my PALS [PreK special education] classroom how I want it to run, and for the first time ( Read more... )

I find it amazing that your country is so big. Here, it would take maybe thirteen hours to drive from the south coast of England to the north coast of Scotland. I agree with you about people not seeing their own country. There is still so much to see in this little country that I haven't gotten to yet.

LOL it takes ten hours to drive out of Texas as it is :P if you're going from south to north or east to west ;) [Houston is pretty east, so we can get out of Houston towards Louisiana within like 2 hrs]

I can't imagine living in a country that big. Everything must seem so very far away. I love my little island.

Everything is pretty far away in Texas, it's closer in other parts of the country, but yeah it's crazy how much of the US that I have and haven't seen

The stretch from San Antonio to El Paso on I-10 is one of the most boring stretches I've ever driven. Your road trips sound like fun!

Seriously, it was SO boring. The most boring stretch of them all was probably from New Mexico to i-10, it's some back highway that google always sends us on, and there's literally nothing but dust and oil fields for about five hours

Hubby and I love road trips too! We live in KY but have driven to Maine, out west to Arizona, Utah, Yellowstone, etc. we drive to San Antonio and/or Houston (extended family in both cities) at least every other year. We also love the Dresden Files audiobooks, and I highly recommend Ready Player One (read by Wil Wheaton) - it’s hugely better than the movie!

I haven't read or seen Ready Player One yet though it is on my TBR list, maybe I'll just download the audiobook of it instead for a future road trip for when we finish Dresden Files ;) Hubby loves Wil Wheaton, and we're always looking for things to listen to so we don't kill each other LOL

I have yet to go to KY, it's one of the states I have left to visit

If you do get to KY let me know, I love meeting new friends!

Ready Player One (the movie) is SO different from the book/audiobook. The movie was good, but the audio version was SO much better.

Hubby and I love audiobooks because there’s only so much to talk about on long trips. We’ve also been listening to the Outlander series, as we are both big fans of the show.

I was surprised Hubby enjoyed the Dresden Files audiobooks, TBH, especially since he's not really a reader. I dragged him to see Jim Butcher at Comicpalooza, a few years back, and he enjoyed the sessions, but I was so happy when he actually liked my favorite series of all time ;) I cannot wait for Peace Talks

And I will :) I love meeting people on our travels ;) and KY is def in the not so distant future

I love road trips. I work on a bus all day, and admittedly I haven't done many road trips since starting that job (just down to LA and San Diego from the Bay Area). And I fly a bunch. But I still enjoy driving for tourist stuff. My most recent epic trip was back in 2017 when I took my kids from California to visit family in Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, and Texas. I have an aunt in El Paso, so I've done most of that drive you mentioned. Only I stayed with a friend in Austin before driving to El Paso.

I haven't been to anywhere near as many national parks as you, but I have been through Yosemite and Yellowstone.

Yosemite and Yellowstone are beautiful :) But I really like some of the least visited national parks.

Most of our driving has been from Texas to the west coast and down the center of the US. I grew up in NJ, so I've been up and down the entire east coast before, but my husband has not. That's on our to be driven trips as well ;)
