I've always hated running but the one thing I was semi good at were the hurdles. Mostly because I'm tall so I found them fun. Though that was in elementary school and middle school. I joined the flag team in high school so I didn't have to do P.E.

I'm glad you finally found something that was yours where you didn't have to worry about family history. That's a lot of pressure to live up to, and that's awesome about the sportsmanship award too. Especially since it was from the same coach!

I'm not very tall at all, but I have very long legs and was always a good jumper, which probably helped with the hurdles ;)

It's great that you stuck with it and finally got something out of it! Also, Moon Mondschein is one of the coolest names. I just Googled him and found some very cool pics of him with his 1950s/1960s glasses, holding a javelin.
