Ah, blessed library silence...

This morning the apartment was filled with its usual annoyances: cats running around all night long, dogs and construction by 7am, random phone calls at 8 and 9am, and tons of mess everywhere to the point where I couldn't make any food because there's no clean space or dishes to do so!

Instead of biting anyone's head off, I decided to have a day out. Even though I'm not a student anymore, I can use the campus computers near our apartment, because I got a community borrower's card. *o* I can't chat online, but I can search for a new apartment, and do other stuff online. This afternoon I'll probably go to the knitting group, too, for a change of pace. It is my hope that by the time I get back, the dishes will be done - or at least done enough that I can squeeze in there and make dinner, and then Eric and I can relax with a nice TV episode over dinner.

One of Eric's friends takes ballroom dancing lessons with a lot of his Chinese friends (he's Chinese too), and so Eric and I are planning to join them on Friday nights sometimes. It'll cost about $16 total per lesson, which isn't bad for a night out, and it's right next to the train station, and I'll get to practice Chinese and meet new people!

Eric found out that he'll probably have to work as a contractor longer than just 2 months before he could get relocation benefits to cover us moving our stuff out to California - maybe even until January. So as soon as he figures out for sure how long he'll have to do contracting, we're probably going to schedule some plane tickets to come get our stuff fairly soon, and just eat the cost. In the meantime, we're hard-core apartment hunting as much as our schedules allow.

They have some retarded rule out here about renting certain apartments, that your income has to be at least 2.8 times the amount of the rent you're charged, but it also can't be above a certain amount. For two people, the amount is often between $60,000 and $90,000. For some of these places, Eric and I won't qualify at all, just because of stupid restrictions like that - and they're usually the prettiest, most conveniently located apartments that I find when I'm looking. -_-#

Anyway, I'm off to continue the apartment hunting. I hope you guys have a great rest of the week!
*huggles*
Love, Lyssa
