3 DAYS 3 DAYS 3 DAYS!

Okay so I don't think I've posted anything about this just yet but I had to say it. On Wednesday, I will be camped out in the parking lot of my local TMobile store at 7:45 in the morning. Why?

The TMobile G-1.

Basically, it's the single greatest thing I've seen in my life. EVER. It's been called the poor man's iPhone and maybe that's what it is. But this little gizmo has a touch screen, full QWERTY keyboard and complete integration with google. It uses the Android OS which is apparently more stable and robust than Apple's OS for mobile, and also it's completely open source, so it's much easier for developers to design for it. Anyone living around here knows that TMobile's network for voice is a bit spotty in New Jersey (especially around Rutgers) but in the area that includes the mall and my house (basically the only 2 areas I am ever in) it's perfect.

Also, the G1 uses TMobile's new 3G network. Now, when I say new, I really mean new - it's not in every city or even most cities. But basically, the entire area of Central NJ that I live in? Yeah, it's covered. Waaaaay covered.

So. I went to TMobile after work today to make sure they were getting it in and I got to hold the display model (which was bronze). WOW! It's not as big as I thought which is great, and it feels really good in my hand. It wasn't on and working, but I got a feel for the weight of the phone and it's just really really awesome. I expected to hate the brown one, but I find myself actually leaning towards it. What do you guys think?

Black is always classic, sure, but the Brown/Bronze is actually a really nice color. And yes, it actually does have a sort of metallic sheen almost. The big selling point for me, though, is that the keyboard is actually silver. I think it might be easier to see plus it's just nice looking. I'm torn, though! Blah!

Other things that I need to decide:

Do I go with lyssachan@gmail.com? I'm thinking of getting a new name if only because I've had 'lyssachan' since I was about 13. On the other hand, do I want to go with a more professional name in the off chance that I use this for work? Or should I get something fun since it'll still be a personal e-mail?

I've already decided that I'm probably going to get a completely new number, both because I'm not super in love with my 0017 number (though I'll miss having the option to call it "double-oh-seven...teen") and because that way I can still talk Verizon down from my current plan and maybe just keep them for voice for the rest of my contract if it works out cheaper. I'm hoping they can just drop me from my mom's plan and there won't be any fees or anything involved - that'd rock.

So I'm thinking lyssahillen as my gmail name. Or maybe lyssa.hillen - I'm so indecisive! Also I'm bouncing off the walls because NEW PHONE NEW PHONE NEW PHONE!!!
