The only thing I know about Cuba is that the people who left Cuba (generally in the sixties) who live in Florida are totally intent on painting Cuba as this horrible, horrible, horrible hell-hole that Castro created because otherwise, we would, you know, remove heads from asses and figure this shit out. But the fact that Castro has held onto Cuba for as long as he has indicates to me that, despite some things happening, like the quarantining of HIV+ people, other things are seen as very successful. Yes, everyone's fucking broke, yes, inflation is high (compared to cost of goods, not actual inflation, I am not a financial analyst) but maybe that would be shit that could be solved by ending the embargo?
