Overheard on the Street

As I was walking back from my 8:00AM class today, at about 9:20AM, I passed by these homeless men (I think they are homeless) in front of this church. I overheard them saying something like ( Read more... )

If you want, I could introduce you to Huck (I'm pretty sure that's his name). He's the guy with the beard and cane and I think usually wears a hat usually on the corners of Durant and Telegraph who sells Street Spirits. he's the only one I really still remember right now. If you find a one-eyed man called Georgie (or something close), I suggest not stopping. He's only interested in getting money from you. One of the only (if not the only) Asian homeless person I know is called Ray, used to be at People's Park, is currently in Canada last I heard, and I think Dwight (the God Bless You guy), is somewhere in SF in a school for the blind. And Dorothy and her two sons... haven't seen them since forever. Last I heard, they also went to SF.

That guy Huck you're talking about is a racist and sexist sonovabitch. There are a lot of nice street people though. There used to be an old man in a wheelchair down by Ameoba records who is very friendly, and the Joke-mon seems like a nice guy too.

Oh? Guess I haven't talked to him long enough to find out. Oh, and another guy, Tony I think, is also only out for your money. Always $1 at a time.

Oh wait, there's one more guy I know, although he's not exactly homeless I think. I think he's retired or something. He's the guy who sits at the corner of Center and Shattuck, next to the Games of Berkeley.

Oh, so that's what Dwight is doing? Groan, can't remember Dorothy. Yeh and I were in a group sophomore year that ate with a homeless person once a week. It feels weird recalling that and putting it on apps and realizing that I don't do it anymore, like I've "put it aside". It being the homeless issue.
