I just had one of these wonderful sensory memory experiences -
I was rummaging through one of my button drawers, the one devoted to my mom's old saved up buttons, and the moment I laid eyes on one medium size, bright teal, shiny button, I just knew how it tasted.
So this must be such an old memory! I had no visual recollection of that specific button, so it must have been from an age I put things into my mouth rather than just look at them. I guess at two or three years old. A memory so old it has no words, just a taste.
I'm so tickled by this little example of how the brain works, and I just know I will be using this in my writing at some point…
Do you collect and store little observations like this, to be used later?
