In my experiences with social workers, psychiatrists and psychologists, a fair number seem to get in the field out of a deep seated need to try and save the world. There is a fairly easy easy argument to be made that they are trying to save themselves by saving the world. Laura, are you trying to save yourself? ;)

I actually do believe that you love the job, though I assume its a fairly different deal then what you are used to. THe addiction, the ebonics and so forth. By the way, if you ever need help with understanding ebonics, it was one of my foreign languages in high school, I still retain fluency.

AS for the cutting your head open... Well better now then later. Besides, some trepanning might help you.

Yeah, wanting shaking them is pretty much how it works with my kids. A lot have the same kalidoscope of problems yours do. And the girls especially can be nasty in their attitude. We actually have the worst problem with them, all the fighting and backstabbing. But I'll get outta yo face to LJ and give a shout out to all my peeps in the hood, fo real.
