Urgh. I've been working on my thesis on and off all weekend while Mal was at work or after she left to go home. It's up to 61 pages (including front and back matter that accounts for ~15 pages), and I have alot left to do. I really need to get some coding done this week so I can take data. YAY *grumble*. i have mixed feelings about everyone's new albums as of late.. system of a down, billy corgan, fischerspooner.. everyone's changing things and trying new paths.. and i don't think i like where they're going.

sotd's new album isn't bad.. for the most part. violent pornography is pretty good, i especially like the part about choking chicks. all the talk of hollywood on that album pisses me off though.. it's like a broken record - every third verse is about hollywood. it has a pretty cool sound though, you can tell that a lot of work was done achieving the sound even if there are some obvious failures on the album.

Billy Corgan has a new album? Does it suck as much as most of his recent schlock? I feel like we have to just kiss the old rock god goodbye... no more siamese dreams

Yeah, I guess you're right about the Hollywood thing. I guess you run that risk with any band that's so political. Despite the journal entry, I'm really more just into the sound, which I love... I generally only pay minimal attention to lyrics... I just like how SOAD is doing something really pretty original, and heavy, and still putting it in a shiny, easily-accessible package. Idunno, I think this album just took me from kind of liking SOAD to putting them on a Tool'ish level... or maybe a small step down from Tool... but close

we're starting to sound like our parents.. there's just no good music like the music we grew up with ;)

and you're right, soad's old and new sounds have always been pretty unique, progressive, and easy to digest. it's exactly what trent reznor did (and continues to do) for industrial.
