It's so useful for so many things, and yet it is so friggen annoying. I'm sitting here, trying to enjoy a good Friends' page session and porn pop-ups keep flashing across my screen. I also hate how I can't go on a single website without a bazillion pop-ups flashing of distantly related subjects and interrupting my free time. Damn marketing.

Sounds like you are getting an abnormal amount of popups...if you're getting porn pop-ups on LiveJournal, you've probably got Ad-ware...

There are several solutions to this.

The easiest is to hunt down Chris, JZ, me, or someone else knowledgeable and drag them to your computer and make them fix it. You could pull that off.

The second is to get Lavasoft Ad-Aware which should take care of most of it.

Other useful programs include Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.4, which is more annoying to use, more risky, but far more thorough.

If you are feeling really dangerous and risky, HijackThis is really thorough, so thorough that you could kill your computer. Which it won't like, and you probably won't either. I don't recommend it.

So those are your options. I recommend the first.

Thanks a bunch. I probably will need help on my computer, and I think it's going to take a TEAM of you cats. My computer is so screwed up.
