Status report. Kind of?

So, um... hey guys. Nothing new on the Fifteen Minutes front at the moment, but I'd gotten a couple of questions about it, so I thought I'd answer those. Also, I do a lot of writing over at my personal journal (cleolinda, obviously), so I wanted to update you on that.

What will the next Movies in Fifteen Minutes be? Well, my answer is always going to be " ( Read more... )

Heh, yeah. It's by iconzicons--I've had the lolcat set saved for a while, but I finally just had a need for a nonchalant kind of "Hey guys" icon.

Oh, wow--that's at least half off what Amazon UK was selling them for. Grab those, y'all, for real.

What did you think of Hamlet 2? I've yet to talk to anyone who has a solid opinion on it. General commentary seems to be along the lines of "It was funny, just no the funny I expected"

Yeah... it was really funny in places, and kind of labored in others. My problem with it--in the sense of "what I would have changed"--was that the main character was kind of inconsistent. Like, sometimes the joke was that he was so innocent and hapless that he just had no idea what was going on, and other times it was that he was this foul-mouthed walking id. It's like--either one would have been funny, but they kind of didn't work together. Or maybe they could have, but just... didn't. I mean, example: the musical itself was this very sweet, earnest redoing of "Hamlet" so that Hamlet was able to go back in time (with... Jesus) and fix everything and reconcile everyone, and yeah, it was kind of outrageous as a concept, but it was actually kind of touching. But then they'd cut away and have people describe these horribly offensive, bizarro scenes that you weren't seeing, like live porn or whatever, and it'd be like--yeah, I guess it's funny that he'd have a high school drama class doing stuff like that, but they didn't even sound like ( ... )

Hey, even if the book doesn't come out in North America, you can still get it at amazon.co.uk. I bought eight or ten of 'em and gave them out as Christmas presents one year. They were a unanimous hit.

So, wait. Where can you get the book? Australia? I'm tipping not, lol. We don't get anything.

Pretty much anywhere but North America--I actually heard from a number of people in Australia who got hold of it. You can order it off amazon.co.uk, and--I don't know the specific bookstore chains everywhere, but I know it was at Waterstones in the UK.

Yeah, I'm hearing that a lot of places had limited stock (unsurprisingly) in the first place and have sold out by now, but I think most places would be willing to order it in. It's funny--the Australian and Irish markets were the most supportive, it kind of sounded like. You know how people say they're "big in Japan"? I'm kind of slightly unsmall in Australia and Ireland.
