Spam-tastic embarassment

So an acquaintance of mine sent me an email from some ridiculous site called Tagged, which I will not link to. It seemed to be a legit MySpace/Flickr-type social networking site, so innocently enough I decided to use the feature of checking my gmail address book on the site to see if any friends had profiles.

I don't think people judge so much when they get these things- spam is really clever now, and it's everywhere. I get emails all the time from people I haven't spoken to in years, and then when I open the email is just an advertisement, and I don't think "man that person is really ANNOYING to have gotten bitten by a spam bug". So don't worry so much.

true. I don't think any friends or acquaintances, no matter how long lost, will be annoyed.

but I definitely got annoyed emails from EDITORS, publishers and journalists. ARGH.

I also got an email from a lawyer who said she bought my book that I had advertised in my email signature. so that's something.
