So today in English 1c, which is supposedly Critical Thinking....we are on the topic of "What is truth?" And the question that was being asked was what would you prefer, freedom without happiness, or happiness with the cost of being someone's slave. While one side of the room said freedom, mine, the other side said happiness. Which is fine. UNTIL

Jessica, I agree with you, that we live in one of the freest nations on Earth.

However, I think that freedom is being challenged and is in danger if we let our guard down.

Things like the Patriot Act doesn't mean we're not free, but if we keep letting these bullshit laws being passed, eventually in 100, in 200 years, the U.S. won't be the same.

So we have to keep our guard, while we have to be thankful for what we have, at the same time we know that we can do better than this otherwise things won't change.

no, i totally understand, if we have certain laws then we really wouldn't be as free as before, but it's such a big IF. And besides that, i'm just peeved that they compared what we have now to slavery. I mean, you gotta admit, that's so extreme!
