I know exactly what you mean. I was debt free once, LOL. I got into big trouble with my first credit card in college (books, over limit fees, late fees--ouchie), and carried that monster for three years, feeding it regularly with fees, fees, fees. (I guess that would make it "fee"ding the monster, LOL!) When I was tending bar, I paid huge chunks every month using the tips I collected. When I called to finally pay it off, the operator actually tried to convince me to just make the minimum payment, even though they'd cancelled my account less than a year after they issued me the card! What a scam!

Now I have debt again, but it's pretty minor and it's under control, and I feel okay about that.

Anyway, congrats! Maybe no balloons dropped from the ceiling, but when your brain forgets and panics and thinks, "Oh god, did we pay the bill this month?!" the sweet relief you'll feel when you remember you're debt free will be worth a million bucks. (Too bad you can't cash it in, right? Ha, ha!)
