‘tis the season for everyone’s favorite unconventional multicultural family unit! With the holiday season rapidly approaching, I thought that it would be a fun idea if we had a “House of M” holiday fic exchange

I joined the comm, but haven't signed up yet--I'm waiting to see how you handle the requests. (Although since you ask us what we can't/don't want to write, I'm not sure... maybe I should have said "other," as I don't want it to be *purely* random, but taking that into account.) When will that decision be made, btw? :)
Yeah, it won't be *completely* random. I would definitely make sure that people aren't paired up with something that they don't want to do before I send out the assignments. I expect the decision will be made in the next couple days. If you're waiting to sign up until after you find out, then I'll make sure that it's before requests are due.
I'm waiting--I make it a personal rule never to sign up for challenges where the rules aren't already spelled out (I've been burned very badly with that in the past). But if that doesn't give you enough time, I'm sure you can get by without me. :)
I want to join the community so I can read the stories, and I may sign up to write one, but I'm not sure if my finals schedule will allow... Is this acceptable?
It's totally legit to join just to read! Also...maybe later in the month we could all post some no-pressure, community-free-for-all requests that anyone and everyone could write for, if they wanted? That way people who wanted to participate could, if they so chose, without any obligations. Does that sound like a good addition?
I almost never sign up for fic exchanges, but this one excites me, so here I am. :D I expect this'll be a lot of fun. Especially since, on this list, it doesn't matter if you're nice or naughty.
