OK I am stuck currently with 70cm, 2m 6m and 10m, I would like to have a play with HF but don't want the outlay, I need to get a decent SWR meter and ATU next although I know the FT doesn't need it it would be nice to know whats going on. Equipment is as cheap or as expensive as you need it to be, I trawl ebay and sites like http://www.junksale.co.uk for stuff, joining a local club is always helpful you will always get help and support from others that way. I paid a couple of hundred in total for my radio, and aprox £60 for antennas. You don't need to have any software experience for any license, electronics however you will start to learn about from M3 onwards. You ask if I am an electronics engineer, well no I am a software engineer I can make software work, I can also follow schematics but am hopeless with my own hardware ideas ( ... )
