When he'd set out, Remus had no destination in mind. All he'd known was that he had to get out of the camp. The Full Moon was only a couple days past and the heightened sounds of the others moving around in the night refused to let him sleep.

No, that wasn't strictly true.

The image of a dark figure on a neglected lawn that sprang up every time he closed his eyes wouldn't let him sleep. He'd thought the oblivion of relinquishing control to the beast inside him for a night would purge the slef-loathing and torment. But it hadn't

Nothing did.

Even when he did sleep, his dreams were filled with hate and pain and the shrill scream of the dying. He couldn't escape the memories...and he felt himself slowly going mad with mingled shame and grief.

And so, he wandered through the woods near the camp, praying to whatever ancient dieties had created the trees to take this pain away from him. He wasn't even aware of how long he'd wandered before apparating here.

Part of him was unsurprised. They'd comforted each other when they lost Sirius. They'd been each other's solace after Albus' sacrifice. It made sense he would turn to her now, when his heart was breaking from an inner pain far more intense than that of the still angry burn which marred the skin just beneath his throat.

Unaware of just how late it was and how dishevelled he looked even compared to his normal tatters, he stumbled a bit approaching the door, catching himself on the wall before knocking weakly.
