I've never seen The Good Wife but I've been thinking of watching it to try to catch up with Season 2. This was lovely and just made me more convinced to check it out! (Probably because I know nothing about the show, the Alicia/Kalinda parts stood out the most to me, in a fem slashy way!) And Martha Plimpton! Love her!

I loved the song too and can see why it feels Piloty to you.

Ooh, you should definitely watch it! It has a wonderful cast and several complex three-dimensional characters plus many secondary character you'd want to see appearing more often on your screen (like that of Martha Plimpton or some judges, Eli Gold and such), and it's a pleasure to see them growing.

I love Alicia's dynamic with Kalinda - it's a really good friendship between two strong women, which nowadays' tv have been missing greatly imo. Some people see slashy aspects of it, but I don't, or least I don't think it exists in canon. ;-)

I'd love to vid this song to Pilots, but I'd have to experience excitement similar to the one I had after the first season for that... I'm glad you like the song. :) Truth be told, I see pilots every time I listen to it - Good Wife's visual story was put together using this song through a certain amount of efforts I wouldn't have to make if I just followed my first impulses.

Thank you for letting me know you liked the video :-)

I'm very glad I came home early from work to watch this. When I've finished burning dinner and hanging washing, I need to start drafting proper feedback... but I couldn't resist putting down a placemarker indicating how much I enjoyed this vid :)

I'd love to watch this as I'm happy to see you vidding again, but "The Good Wife" is on my list of shows to watch and I'm afraid I might spoil myself. :( Will add this post to my memories and come back to it one day, though. :)

I hope you watch it after you've seen the first season. The vid is really spoilery for those who didn't see the show and I think it makes much more sense when you get the context of each of the scenes used in it. I'd say it's my attempt to express the essence of the first season, what it's about and what stands out for me as a viewer.

Is it wrong that one of the first things I was reminded of as this vid started was the extended conversation that you and I had on the motivation behind Alicia reaching out towards Peter at the press conference? It also makes a great way of bookending the vid, just as it did the series. I particularly like the way you don't actually show the slap at the beginning, just the impact ( ... )

I particularly like the way you don't actually show the slap at the beginning, just the impact.

I think that more than anything I was trying to show the impact the whole thing had *on her* - and no slap can do that, only the repercussions like circles on the water. Which is why the moment right after makes for a good visual opening in Change.

The initial "I should look after your heart" is one of those sections of the vid that really works for me

I'm very glad it does. Kalinda seems to appear almost OOC when she gently pushes the door closed to ask Alicia what's wrong and if she needs help :) Such a parental gesture!

...but it really feels here as if you're building up to two of the things that are going to be huge struggles for Alicia, making them look deceptively languid through shots that feel lingering in comparison to the fast clipsI wanted the viewer to keep that fresh perspective the show presents with each of it's episodes, the sense of realistic if somewhat slow plot development and Alicia's inner world complexity. I really like that you follow that troubled lyric by moving into the lyrics on change as a positive thing and highlight one of Alicia's biggest wins, both personally - the little handslap with Cary is a great character moment - and professionally, as Patty and her evil overlords are defeated and the families of those rail workers receive the justice they deserve ( ... )

I really like that you follow that troubled lyric by moving into the lyrics on change as a positive thing and highlight one of Alicia's biggest wins, both personally - the little handslap with Cary is a great character moment - and professionally, as Patty and her evil overlords are defeated and the families of those rail workers receive the justice they deserve.

There’s also a question at what price does she succeed professionally? Where’s a fine line between dedication to the case and taking advantage of the knowledge she accidentally got from another woman she might be hurting very much… Personally, I think she did good, that she had to do her job and make her testify, personal drama notwithstanding. What matters is Alicia’s realization of how close she got to crossing that line, how much it costs - finding a balance between what she thinks is right and what has to be done, acting according to that balance - knowing it may shift every day and still doing her best.

As for "do you ever dream of the world like I do", replete with ( ... )
