1. A movie. The Outsiders. I rec this movie for everyone/everything, but if you aren't into movies made for teenage boys, Some Kind of Wonderful is absolutely amazing, as is St Elmo's Fire.
2. A book. The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets, The Time Traveller's Wife, The Blind Assassin
3. A musical artist, song or album. Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, The Academy Is...
4. A website. www.gofugyourself.com, is this really scathingly funny fashion website for the Hollywood types.
5. An LJ user not on my friends list. kueble. She's absolutely amazing.

OMG, this is so cool. Go Fug Yourself is actually the first site I rec to anybody. This site is an absolute wonder. And really really spirit-lifting.
And I've already got kueble on my flist. You are right, she's quite a delight.
Really, coincidences like this just make me happy. I feel like I'm in synch with the world ;)

I'll be sure to check out your movie/book/music recommendations. I have nothing against movies made for teenage boys, so there's a strong chance I'll enjoy 'The Ousiders'.

Thanks.

'Boondock Saints' is a class of its own. I so have to watch it again some time. Soon.

Hey, I've actually read 'Assassin's Apprentice'! Hey, I actually HAVE 'Assassin's Apprentice'! There just never was an opportune moment to pick up the rest of the series. And, well, I have a strong suspicion the Polish translation was quite shitty (really, my major motive for learning English was the perspective of never having to depend on untrustworthy translations ever again) so I wasn't all that eager to follow through either. I might get down to it someday, though. Definitely in original language, though.

That's a cool site. Thanks. And I'll be sure to check tygerx out. There can never be enough movie-loving friends.

The whole series by Robin Hobb is fantastic but I've always adored the relationship between Fitz and the Fool. You pick that series up, keep with it, and you won't be disappointed. :)

Yeah, I vaguely remember that Fitz and the Fool really had some interesting dynamic going on. 'Vaguely' because it was roughly seven years ago.
Well, now with all these encouragements I guess I just have no other choice but actually read it again ;) Or at least officially add it to my to-read list, because with the current snail-like pace I get through books, I doubt I get to it in any near future. It's all the Intenet's fault. I should really really stop reading all that fanfiction and finally pay more attention to stuff that actually got published. *sigh* If I only knew how.

Dude, 'Doctor Who' is utterly thrilling. I'm watching dutifully every episode, I'm just too lazy to write any reviews. Or, apparently, well, mention it in any form. However, I've fully succumbed to the love of The Surprisigly Fantastic and Not-Irritatingly Spunky Martha and The Slightly Subdued Yet Still Extremely Stunning Post-Rose Doctor.

I really have to check out this book. I've heard many good things about it. And I find the fact that this girl used to write Harry Potter fanfiction (some of which I've actually read) downright fascinating.

Fiddle, you say? Oh hell, why not? ;)

Awesome SGA ficcies? Sounds very very promising.

Thank you for taking part in this. You are a dear.

Okay let's try:

1. Fried Green Tomatoes
2. The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. I read that book because I kept seeing it mentioned on LJ by people who didn't know each other from Adam and, wow, I so don't regret doing so! It's one of my favourite books now. The #1, the one I always want to rec first and foremost hasn't been translated in English yet - I should check other languages, mind you - so I can't rec it to you, sadly.
3. Half Acre by Hem, though I can't upload it atm, sorry. Remind me to later if you want?
4. Del.icio.us.

1. Hey, I haven't seen that one! I shall rectify this readful ommision as soon as possible ;)

2. The other book's in French, isn't it? Well, sadly my French isn't nearly good enough to tackle serious literature just yet, but I'm working on it. So, someday, perhaps.

3. If I won't be able to get it on my own, I surely shall come to you and whine. I mean, remind you. Yeah. remind you ;)

4. Del.icio.us is certainly a great place. Btw, do you have any particular pages there to recommend? Apart from yours, naturally ;) The search engine there is a bit wonky and it rarely shows me what I actually expect from it. Or it works perfectly fine, but it just doesn't like me.

1. Oh it's one of my most favourite movies ever! Maybe #1, really, it's a gorgeous story. I watch it on a regular basis.

2. It's a French novel, yes. Les Thanatonautes by Bernard Werber. I think you can find one of his other novels translated in English, though Empire of the Ants. That's the novel - well, the trilogy, really - that made him famous here. Personally, I much prefer the Thanatonautes trilogy, the first book being my most favourite of the series.

4. Nope, sorry. Like you I have a bit of a problem with the search engine at that site lol I usually cruise del.icio.us via recs; from one account to another, one link to another.

I do exactly the same. I figure if someone recced a story I liked, there's a good possibility that it's a person with commendable taste and I might fing oodles of other goodies there that I haven't yet come across.

Vale a pena.
